About us

Procyon Networks was founded by Jan-Maarten van Rooij and Jan Robijns in 2000. With extensive experience in all sorts of environments, we decided we could do things better. Our goal was to create a company that excels in networking and data communications. We wanted to help our customers solve challenging problems, create well-designed future proof networks and share our knowledge. We also wanted to create a company where we would want to be employed ourselves.

It is no coincidence that we chose to use this text as our motto. Where others tend to overcomplicate or oversimplify, we like the solution that fits a situation just right. In practice, this doesn’t always make our job an easy one, but it does make for well-designed networks. Simple solutions are often the best, but even if things get complicated, Procyon Networks is the partner that can help you. We help our customers to make their business possible. By looking for the best possible solution, and not looking at technology, we work to create the most reliable data communication infrastructure.

Especially in networking, everyone is just doing what they think should work and problems are compounded by the absence of real knowledge. We try to teach our customers about networking so that they only need us when it is getting really difficult. And that is just the way we like it. We try to teach the kinds of courses that address the biggest gaps in networking knowledge. There is no magic in trouble-shooting networking problems, but you do need to possess the right skills to do it. Instead of ‘dumbing down’ our customers, we empower them. This is what keeps our customers coming back for more.

The network simply has to work

Creating and maintaining a network is not a goal in itself. Granted, a network would be more secure without any users in it, but the simple fact of the matter is this: The network is a service, an important one, but a service nonetheless. This is something we are very aware of. This also is the reason why we never tell our customers “it’s not the network”, even when it actually is not. We always look at the bigger picture and view the network as the glue that connects all resources together. It is an important part of a whole, but without the components it connects, it is actually quite useless.

Innovation is our drive

Procyon Networks is about development of new and smart solutions. Innovation comes in many shapes and sizes. To some problems, a completely new solution like our product VP-Anylink is the right answer. In other cases, simplifying a process may be just the thing to do. Everything we develop is meant to create a better and more stable networking experience. And being the perfectionists we are, our products continue to get better all the time.

Solutions that work

Procyon Networks is the company that will rather tell you “no” than implement a solution that does not work. We need to be confident about a design or a technology before we recommend using it. Simply put; we will only implement solutions we would go out and buy ourselves.
