Meaning Procyon

CANIS MINOR, the small dog, is a small constellation above and to the left of Canis Major, on the other side of the galaxy. This constellation is also called a one-star constellation and that 'one star' is Procyon, the eight brightest star in the night sky. This star is located at a distance of 11.41 light years from earth.

Canis Minor is the second dog that accompanies the hunter Orion.
Procyon means: 'before the dog' and it is named this way because it rises before the ‘dog’ star Sirius.
